I STARTING OUT RECORDING GOSPEL AND CHIMURENGA MUSIC IN ZIMBABWE IN THE EARLY 80'S WITH ARTISTS SUCH AS THOMAS MAPHUMO AND THE BUNDU BOYS. THIS IS WHERE I GOT THE CHANCE TO BE BEHIND THE CUTTING DESK OF 'GRAMMA RECORDS' VMS 70 DISC CUTTING LATHE.
AFTER SPENDING 1988 STUDYING AT THE RECORDING WORKSHOP IN OHIO, USA , I ARRIVED IN DUBLIN , IRELAND FOR A WEDDING, AND PRETTY MUCH STAYED EVER SINCE.
MOVING FROM THE JOB OF ASSISTANT ENGINEER TO MIXING AND PRODUCING ALBUMS BY 1992 IN A SMALL STUDIO IN TEMPLE BAR AS WELL AS ACROSS THE WORLD INCLUDING NEW YORK, LONDON AND HONG KONG WITH ARTISTS INCLUDING MY BLOODY VALENTINE AND ROLLERSKATE SKINNY, MY FAVOURITE PART OF THE RECORDING PROCESS WOULD ALWAYS BE FLYING OVER TO LONDON FOR 'THE CUT'. USING MASTERING ROOMS INCLUDING ABBEY RD & METROPOLIS I BEGAN TO LEARN THE BASIC FUNDAMENTALS OF A GOOD MASTERING JOB.
WITH NO PROFESSIONAL DEDICATED MASTERING SUITE IN DUBLIN, I TOOK THE STEP OF OPENING DIGITAL PIGEON MASTERING IN 1995 BASED AT 'THE FACTORY' IN DUBLIN'S RINGSEND. THE STUDIO MOVED TO ITS FIRST PURPOSE BUILT PREMISES IN WINDMILL LANE RECORDING STUDIOS, GAINING BOTH INTERNATIONAL AND THE CREAM OF IRISH TALENT , I N 2002 THE ROOM WAS MOVED TO ITS PRESENT DETACHED LOCATION IN DUBLIN 3.
PROFESSIONALLY MASTERING AUDIO FOR OVER 15 YEARS IN ALL GENRES OF MUSIC , FROM JAZZ TO IRISH TRADITIONAL TO ROCK, I HAVE CLOCKED UP OVER 20 NUMBER 1 SINGLES PLUS NUMEROUS GOLD AND PLATINUM SELLING ALBUMS .
DESPITE MY SOMETIMES-INTENSIVE WORK SCHEDULE I ALWAYS FIND TIME TO GO SURFING, AS WELL AS RESTORING MY CLASSIC VALVE CUTTING LATHE AMPS. ROCK ON!
